Hello, I’m using the last Sublimetext dev build with a font that has no italic variant. As the theme can highlight syntax with italic text I assume Sublimetext can fake italic in this case.
If I use a font that has a native italic variant, will Sublimetext use the variant or still fake it?
I’m asking because I want to buy a font and have to decide between the cheap font package without or a more expensive version with native italic and bold versions.
Question about SublimeText and italic/bold font handling

The theme uses different fonts than what you specify in your settings. The font in the settings only applies to view/file contents.
ST does not fake italic variants. If a font does not have it, it will be rendered regularly.

Ok, small misunderstanding on my side. The color scheme and not the theme determines if a word is highlighted with italic or not.
But there are fonts that have an explicit file for italic and some don’t. Both can be displayed italic. I guess in that case italic is made through shearing. Is the native italic face used in the first case?
