Problem with Hebrew after the last update

#1

Hey,

I’m using Sublime for few years now and in the latest update something goes wrong with Hebrew chars.

Screenshot attached.

Anything to do?

This “issue” was discussed a hundred times in this forum. A quick search would therefore reveal the answer that ST3 does not directly support RTL languages such as Hebrew. The only basic support it has came from Windows’ GDI library which was used as rendering engine for a long time. It was replaced by other technologies due to a couple of bugs related to HIDPI and Unicode support.

Example

What you can try is to force ST3 to use GDI and fallback to its legacy behavior by adding "font_options": ["gdi"], to your settings.

Just wanted to say that this is not an “issue”, its an actual ISSUE…
Not to repeat all that havbe been already said about RTL support,
from being left-to-right readable Hebrew chars it changed to just unreadable hebrew character soup :frowning:
I have wasted something like 2 Hours after doing the recommended upgrade.

I would suggest that you add a note / message for people that use Hebrew/Arabic suggesting that we add the said font_option…

Thanks.
The “font_options”: [“gdi”] solved it.
