plugin_host has exited unexpectedly - Build 3103 - OSX 10.11.3

Hi,

Since I updated to Build 3103 I have a big problem.
When I save a file 2 times I have this alert :
“plugin_host has exited unexpectedly, plugin functionality won’t be available until Sublime Text has been restarted”
Not on the first time.

After this message, package_control and all my plugins are desactivated.

I tried the method “Reverting to a Freshly Installed State”, and reinstalling some of my plugin one by one. But it still makes this error.

I rolled back to 3102 and it works fine

Unfortunately you have quite a number of third-party packages installed, so it will probably require doing some form of binary search of your plugins to see which is causing it.

For a binary search, disable half of the packages and leave the others enabled. If you don’t experience the bug, then the error is probably in one of the other packages. Repeat splitting the enabled packages in half until you identify the problem package.

In build 3101 I have an error: error: plugin_host has exited unexpectedly, plugin functionality won't be available until Sublime Text has been restarted I reinstall build 3100, and in this same action all it's OK - so it's new bug in 3101

IMO the plugin which crashed Sublime is CSS Extended Completions (I see you are using it too)

I have the same problem with CSS Extended Completions. There is now an issue on the plugins github issue tracker: https://github.com/subhaze/CSS-Extended/issues/47

In older builds (currently I’m on 3102 DEV) the plugin worked flawless.
The plugin_host crash started to appear in build 3101 / 3102 / 3103.

@wbond, @jps you have any idea what might cause this plugin_host crash?

same problem as you, but on Win10, it works after I uninstalled the CSS snippet by Package Control-Remove Package.

I figured out the cause for this problem on my system, it was the active threat control in Bitdefender perceiving plugin_host.exe as a threat and shutting it down. I am running Sublime Text 3 build 3103 on Windows 10 and using Bitdefender 2016. I encountered the same issue after installing SublimeLinter-csslint, SublimeLinter-jhint, and SublimeLinter-contrib-htmlhint.

After correcting an error pointed out by SublimeLinter in a css file, it did not make the dot indicating an error in the gutter go away. When I tried to save, I received the “plugin_host has exited unexpectedly, plugin functionality won’t be available until Sublime Text has been restarted” error.

Suspecting Bitdefender, I checked the event log and it said, “The application C:\Program Files\Sublime Text3\plugin_host.exe was detected as potentially malicious. Active Threat Control blocked this process based on the following actions: - The application’s behavior can harm your computer.” After some investigation and trial and error it appears to be a false positive generated by the Active Threat Control.

After adding plugin_host.exe’s file path into the antivirus excluded processes list it works fine now, problem solved. Now as far as what is causing the antivirus to trigger, that’s another matter altogether. If anyone figures it out let me know. I hope this is helpful.
