#41

Do you have an anti-virus or similar software that could be causing the plugin host processes to exit?

do you know what was changed in plugin_host 3.3 and 3.8 from build 4152 to 4180 ?

Plenty of things, but what it does and how it does so hasn’t fundamentally changed. If anyone here’s willing to run and test a bunch of custom builds it might be possible to narrow down the cause.

I still met this issue in ST 4 latest release.
I set up ST 4 because my ST 3 could not use package control for a long time.
So I think these issue might be some interrelationship between ST 3 and ST 4, and uninstall ST 3, delete directory /APPDATA/ST3/… and re-install ST4 could not resolve this issue.

Hi everyone, hope this can help to investigate further on this annoying bug: in April, after having experienced this bug in previous stable release (4169), I installed dev release (build 4175), and the issue went away, and I was able to install Packege Manager, etc etc. Then, when new official release arrived, I uninstalled 4175 dev release (removing completely also folder within AppData/local and AppData/Roaming) and then installed official stable 4180 release: the issue was there again! No way to install package manager, same annoying issue with plugin_host 3.3 and 3.8. Now (a few minute ago) I installed the last dev release 4183, and everything works perfectly again! I’ve just been able to install the package manager, etc etc. So the strange thing is this issue seems appear only on stable builds, and disappear within dev builds. I have a Win11 Pro work station with last updates from Microsoft (and tons of IDEs and compilers/language interpreters as I work for a software company).

Specifically, the issue was fixed in dev build 4181 (see https://www.sublimetext.com/dev); it just hasn’t landed in a stable build yet.

Anyone have an idea how long until it lands in a stable build?

Only the devs at SublimeHQ can say for sure on that.

I wish they were more forthcoming with that info.

Love your videos by the way. Learned a lot.
