Paragraph wrap in preferences file

#1

Apparently all the wrap stuff specified in the default/template has to do with the visual (what it shows you regardless of window size).

However, I want to control when ST3 inserts a CRLF as I’m typing. I think this is the wrap setting under the Edit menu. Searching high and low, I don’t see a switch for this in the preferences file. Why is this so hard to find?

It’s not clear to me what you are asking. View > Word Wrap enables automatic soft-wrapping which does not insert hard newlines. To insert hard newlines, you must manually run the Wrap Paragraph command (Edit > Wrap). The wrapping column is controlled by the View > Word Wrap Column.

If you want it to automatically add hard line breaks, you’ll need to install a package like https://packagecontrol.io/packages/AutoWrap

If you want to control if it uses CRLF or LF, that is in View > Line Endings.

Yes, what I’m asking is for autowrap-like functionality. However, most of the default controls that are available in Preferences sounds like autowrap, which is frustrating as heck when you’re trying to figure out how to get the behavior you want out of ST3.

It’s puzzling to me why a package is needed to get this behavior. Inserting line breaks in a file seems like a far higher priority then where to visually wrap text regardless of window size.

Thanks for the pointer. I will try out autowrap.
