Paid VS Free version of Sublime Text..?

#1

I can’t see any difference in paid & free version other than Activation Notice.
Still, I am using Free version, if there is any real difference please let me know.

Thanks

I know the following differences.

  • Sometimes, for unregistered version, there will be a popup to remind you that you are evaluating ST when you save a file.
  • You must have a license to use a dev build of ST.
  • "update_check": false, is only available in registered ST.

Sublime Text may be downloaded and evaluated for free, however a license must be purchased for continued use. There is currently no enforced time limit for the evaluation.

Buying ST definitely helps the dev of ST but the “for continued use” looks more like a test of moral conscience to me. It’s so vague with a comparison to a solid period like 30 days. So I guess there are many people who have evaluated ST for quite a long time and haven’t decided whether to “continue to use” ST.

I think it definitely brings more users than using a solid evaluating period does but I wonder how “continued use” works in law.

As @jfcherng pointed out, there is no free version of ST.
