Packages not working on Ubuntu 16.04

#1

Hello There!

Hope you’re fine.

I have one important question regarding Sublime Text 3 Package Control plugins on Ubuntu 16.04. I use Sublime both on Windows 10 and Ubuntu. On Windows I have installed every package that I need and they run well every time I use the editor. However, on Ubuntu I’ve installed the same packages and I don’t get none executed when I use the editor. I’ve tried to check the options and configurations panel but don’t get to make them work.
Is there any known issue with Package Manager on Ubuntu or is there any advice to make them fully work?

Thank you very much for your help.

same problem for me on Ubuntu 18.04
/apt/stable seems not recheable

The repository ‘https://download.sublimetext.com apt/stable/ Release’ does not have a Release file.
N: Updating from such a repository can’t be done securely, and is therefore disabled by default.

HI guys!
Thank you very much for your quick response.
I’m sorry for the delay. This is the first day that I’m using my Ubuntu computer again.
I don’t notice any error but I don’t know very much. I’m pasting my Sublime Text console output here to show you in more detail.

Thank you very much again:

The only obvious problem from your console output is that you have the linter for CSS installed but you didn’t also install csslint, so linting of CSS isn’t going to work until you do so.

In your original post you said this:

Can you clarify what you mean by packages not getting executed when you use the editor?

Hi @OdatNurd

Sorry for the delay in the response and thank you very much for your answer.

I understand what you say. I will install csslint now.

By packages dont getting executed I mean that, for example, I’ve installed the sidebar package that makes your files shown better with their respective logos for each extension type and they don’t show. I mean that they just don’t show when I open the editor. On Windows I just installed them and they got shown as soon as I installed them. Maybe I’m missing something.
So, there shouldn’t be any difference between installing and running packages on Windows 10 and Ubuntu 16.04?

Thanks again!

Packages generally work the same regardless of the OS you’re using, except in rare cases such as when they mark themselves as being platform specific (but you generally cant install them in that case).

I don’t use any of the packages that modify the icons for the sidebar, but if you mention which one you use someone may be able to provide some assistance on why it doesn’t seem to be working (perhaps you also need to use a different Theme as well, for example?).

did you use the package manager to install the packages? Make sure the packages are not disabled and appear in Package Control: List Packages.

Other things you can verify is your "ignored_packages" in your user preferences, file permissions in Ubuntu. You can also use a portable version as a last resort, and compare with your current installation.
