Package Control commands disappear from command list

#1

Hi,

now ever since I installed (and purchased) Sublime Text 2 I’m having trouble with packages. Every now and then, commands installed by some package, e.g. AdvancedNewFile, stop working and disappear from the command palette (hitting CTRL+SHIFT+P on Windows 7). What usually helps is to remove the package and re-install it. That’s really annoying.

Today, even the Package Control commands themselves have disappeared from the command palette. I opened the console and pasted that command to install it, closed and re-opened ST2. Nothing. I’ve read this was a bug in some earlier version of ST2 (I have 2.0.1) and should have been fixed. Apparently it hasn’t.

Also, the latest version is supposed to be 2.0.2 but the download link seems to have disappeared from the Download section of the website. Why??? Please don’t tell me to switch to ST3. I’m not installing anything Beta on my production system. Also I am a paying customer, so I should be able to at least get the lastest version of the program.

PS: Sorry for the rant but this is so annoying. Thinking about vim …

Package Control will disable plugins prior to update. The problem is that sometime, after update, it forgets to re-enable the plugin
If you edit Preferences file, you will find an entry called “ignored_packages”. Try to change and see where it leads.

As for ST3 beta: use it. It’s stable, just like ST2 (even the „nightly” build).

Thanks for your answer. I have “update_check”: false in my Preferences, so there should be no automatic updates, right? Still, what exactly am I supposed to change about the “ignored_packages”? Do I put Package Control to the list?

As for ST3, your saying it’s just as stable as ST2, given my troubles, doesn’t sound very reassuring. Sorry.

update_check it’s for the editor, not for Packages. Package Control have it’s own settings for this: “auto_upgrade”: true

On ignored_packages you should remove entries that you don’t want to be disabled. If Package Control disappeared completely, i guess you should just reinstall it.

About ST3 vs ST2: consider that ST2 got the last big update on 2012 (the last update was basically a patch to remove expire date). Also consider that plugin developers (should) focus more on ST3 now, so any issues you have with a ST2 plugin it might be fixed on ST3 version (although, i’m pretty sure that wbond mantains the both versions, it’s not the case with all plugins)
