Version 4126
Windows 11 Pro build 10,0.22000
Opening an associated file whatever.txt, for example, has been opening in a new tab since forever.
I have the preference:
“open_files_in_new_window”: false,
Which seemed necessary at some time in the past.
Suddenly, a few days ago, ST began opening files in a new window instead of a new tab. Even if that file was already open - a pain when using winscp and modifying code. Suddenly there were multiple windows with the same file of different ages on top of one another.
I was about to ask for help, but decided to try harder to solve it myself, when I remembered that I had recently changed the View|Show Minimap to Hide.
So I flipped it back on. Lo and behold, proper operation returned. Files now open in a new tab again.
I switched back to Hide and it works - for now. I will see what happens later.
I am posting this for others who may have this happen to them unexpectedly and for those who wish to track down this mysterious little bug.
Hiding and Showing Minimap should not change the opening preference.
