Open recent does not contain recent files

I have installed Sublime Text 3 on Ubuntu 13.10 using the deb file provided on the website.
The problem is that the “Open Recent” function in the “File” menu does not remember the file that were opened recently. I have tried several times, creating new files as well as opening old ones, but when I close the editor and open it again the list is still empty.
