'Open in Editor..' from Sublime Merge does not open the correct file in Sublime Text

Observed

After updating to Sublime Text 4 (currently on build 4105), when I right-click on a diff in Sublime Merge (build 2054) and select the Open in Editor... command from the context menu, the Sublime Text window is focused but the file and line is not opened.

On macOS 11.3.1 ,
Sublime Merge editor path: /Applications/Sublime Text.app (matches ST4)

Expected

Clicking Open in Editor... opens ST4 at the file and line of the selected diff

Interesting. For me on Windows 10, it does open the required file using Open in Editor ... but it seems to get the line numbers wrong many times (sometimes correct, sometimes wrong)

are you using the default settings for editor in Sublime Merge preferences?

After it stopped working, I explicitly set it to use sublime text.app

Here’s how I fixed that,

  • Downloaded the new 4107 stable release of ST
  • Open SM prefs
  • blank out the field with editor path

now it works as it should
