When having many open files simultaneously, keeping track of what file is at what Alt+# can be difficult. An option to have number placed next to it, either on the left or on the right side, could make using the alt+# more effective. Image says it all. (Not sure where the “unsaved circle icon” would go though.)

(there’s an obvious mismatch of fonts, font sizes, colors and anti-aliasing going on in my illustration image - hopefully people look past that and imagine it looking awesome instead
