Nothing shows after opening text editor in a browser

#1

Hi All,

I’ve read that this question has been asked previously but it seems none of the troubleshooting has been successful for me. I’m wondering if anyone is currently encountering the same problem that I am.

My issue is, after saving my text in Sublime and naming my folder ‘index.html’ I attempt to open it in my browser (chrome). Once my browser window in Chrome opens, nothing appears. Simply a blank screen. I’m using a MacBook Pro and when I visit my folder, it shows the default browser is Google Chrome. I’ve performed all the usual troubleshooting ie: uninstalling/reinstalling Sublime, updating my software to the latest Big Sur, cleared cache/cookies, and restarted my computer. This is the HTML format I’ve been using and am confident formatting is not the issue.

I’ve even attempted to use Atom.io in the meantime and realized I am also experiencing the same issue with that text editor as well - when opening the files up in a browser, it shows a blank white screen yet Google Chrome shows as the files default browser. Any ideas what may be happening?

“index.html” has to be a file, not a folder. The other html files would be linked to “index.html” by hyperlinks. They can be in the same folder.
