Have installed Auto Fold package and readme says “Its the /Data/Packages and not /Packages folder”. I have no /Data folder, just /Packages. Any help for a newbie appreciated

The short answer is that the Data directory is the directory that contains the Packages folder; that is, it’s the root of the location where Data is stored. It can be confusing because it’s not (usually) named Data.
As such, what you want to do is put the file it’s talking about in Packages/User folder that you’ve already found (you get there via Preferences > Browse Packages).
