I guess the themes are to blame here, but since I use the default ones (mostly mariana) I think this is the right place to raise an issue:
Once I activate the new “block_caret” setting, the caret indeed takes up the block shape, but it’s color just takes up a default value - which happens to overlap with the mariana theme’s line highlight background color, making the block cursor practically invisible to the user (it’s tricky when you like to have “caret_extra_top/bottom” set to 0 )
I guess it’s an intentional decision to have a different color setting for block cursor (I can see how it can be handy, too), but as a user I would expect that if, by default, I change the caret’s shape, the caret’s color would remain unaffected (just as with the other cursor shape options). My humble question is that if we can have at least the official color schemes support this new feature out of the box, so it’s not causing an hour of confusion to (dumb) users like me?
