Minimap improvement

#1

Hi there

I have been using sublimetext now for a few months and it is amazing!!! license purchase on the way.

I love the minimap view - such a clever idea - But have one issue, when highlighting words in the codebase the minimap does attempt to render the all the places in the file of that word occurrence, the problem is, it extremely difficult to pick out the occurrences in the minimap (as they are so faint)

It would be so so helpful to see this information clearly - esp to track down where a variable is being used throughout the file.

I have mocked up an example in the attached files that remedies this by providing a strikethrough instead of highlight tiny little words. it makes the visual search MUCH more effective.

The question is - could something like this be implemented, is it possible?? It would make the minimap feature complete.

any ideas?

The highlight in the minimap (and the main buffer) is the cursor color, which you can adjust in the color scheme. I use a custom scheme with a solid black cursor, and have no difficulty spotting word highlights in the minimap. Scheme is available on my github if you want to try it yourself.

Hi Nick

Thanks alot for that - must admit that colour scheme is very nice, I see what you have done. You’ve ‘softened’ the code colours, making it easier for the black cursor to stand out.

I am a ‘sunburst’ type of guy lol (moved over from textmate), I still wish it could be easier and faster to spot via a higher contrast bar or something, as I have a problem discerning between low contrast items.

I can learn to live with it though.

Thanks.
