Make "find" and "find & replace" panel tab-specific

#1

Hi,

Is there any way for making find/find & replace panels tab specific?

Here is the UX problem I’m having:

  • if I search something in the one tab, then I’m seeing the same search panel (with the same keywords) on another tab (even if I’m not planning to search there)
  • if I close the search panel on one tab it’s closed on the other tabs

I’m not sure about others, but usually, I don’t search for the same thing on different tabs and prefer to keep them disconnected.

Thank you.

This is because Find & Find & Replace (for that matter any of the find panels) are window specific and not tab specific and they act on the active view.

Is there any way to make it tab-specific, like in TextEdit (on Mac)?

I believe with a small plugin, you can make the find panels close when you navigate away from a tab, but AFAIK you can’t make them tab specific.
