Main Menu disapeared permanently

#1

I don’t understand how, but after booting my system up today (Ubuntu 17.04), the main menu was gone (File - Edit … Preferences - Help).

Removing my settings by renaming it under .config does not fix it, nor does adding “menu_visible”:true everywhere in my preferences help either. CTRL+SHIFT+P and attempt toggle menu also does nothing.

I’ve restarted, and I even tried reinstalling Sublime with snap.

How I can I get my old Sublime back?

Looking into other solutions, somebody suggested running Sublime as super-user. This does bring the menu back. This leads me to conclude that something is faulty in Ubuntu.

Attempting to upgrade Ubuntu and seeing if that solves the issue.

CTRL + U or CTRL + M should show the menu…

Alternatively, the Alt key is typically used to show the main menu when it is hidden because of hot-keys ( text with an underlined char = ALT + X for quick access )
