Loosing all file data when computer runs out of memory

#1

Hi!

I have been having problems with saving things in Sublime Text when the disk memory is full (please hear me out).

This happened to me because of a bug in OneDrive, that bloated my computer with log files of hundreds of gigabytes, resulting in my SDD being full. However, this happened while I was editing one of my Markdown files. I manually pressed CTRL+S and it gave me an error. Not knowing what had happened, I decided to restart the PC, thinking that that would fix the issue.

Upon rebooting, I found out that all of the contents of the file were lost. Sublime deleted all the file contents, not just discarded the latest changes.

Any ideas?

I’d say what happened is that Sublime went to save the file by deleting, moving or renaming the existing file and then copying, moving or renaming the temporary file that contained the new changes into the place of the existing file, and that second step failed due to a full disk.
