Local copies of network files

#1

If I open a file on a network share (specifically in a Windows environment), does Sublime Text create a local copy? If so, does the local copy persist after the network file is closed? I ask because I work for a security conscious company, and we want to understand the impact of file server-based documents being opened on non-company computers over the VPN.

Thanks!

Additionally, I found the auto-save file located (in Windows) at \AppData\Roaming\Sublime Text 2\Settings\Auto Save Session.sublime_session. This file contains the contents of open files, and it is deleted when Sublime is closed. I found that if I opened a network file and then closed it, it continues to appear in the auto-save file. Can anyone explain how this file is updated? Are the contents of closed files eventually purged?

Thanks.
