Linux, Ctrl+V causes Sublime cursor to break

#1

Os is Arch Linux 5.13.9-arch1-1. Using i3wm (x11).

I can ctrl+c to copy content to the clipboard but when I attempt to paste (sometimes). Sublime will both fail to paste and the cursor breaks requiring me to restart sublime. This actually branches outside of a sublime text. I have brought this up in both Arch and Fedora forums to see if there is some bug, I have had no luck.

Worth noting that I have started using clipboard managers to try and get around this issue, they also show that when this occurs nothing is actually written to the clipboard, however the Primary (clipboard) works fine in all cases.

One thing that does seem to be constant; once I open sublime text 4 and this happens I have to restart sublime text to get rid of it, and until I do the clipboard is spotty at best.

Kind of sad right now because I bought a license for ST4 but have to move over to VS code for the time being.

Anyone else seeing this issue?

EDIT: By cursor breaking I mean it freezes on the screen and doesn’t move from the location it last was. I can even select other text on the window but there is no way to know where my cursor is.

Does dragging some text using the mouse also fix it?

Nope. you can drag and select but you can’t see the selection nor the cursor. It’s almost like the display for that specific file is “frozen”. You can move over to another open tab/file and it works normally.

By dragging text I don’t mean drag to select, but drag and drop. Are you sure that doesn’t reset it?

well once it’s frozen i can’t see if I am selecting anything or what I would be selecting. I have tried and I believe the answer is no, it doesn’t change anything.

That’s very odd. Could you perhaps provide a gif or video of the behavior?

Anyone else seeing this issue?

Yes. Also using Arch Linux, but XFCE as desktop. I have had the same issue (cursor freezing) a few times when pasting multi-line text from somewhere else to sublime and have found no other way to get rid of the frozen cursor, but restarting sublime. Next time I face the issue, I’ll try if it can be reproduced when pasting the same text to the same document.

Here is an example… in this case the cut/paste bug isn’t happening but the cursor is broken. As you can see

I have the same problem quite often. It’s really annoying. I am on Ubuntu 21.04.

Same problem. 4113 on Ubuntu 20.04

I see this often as well, 4113 on Debian 11 (Cinnamon). Very frustrating editing without cursor :anguished:

Not sure if related, but I copy paste a lot between terminals, and that’s what I’m doing when I see it.

I’m having exactly the same problem. Running on an old Ubuntu 14.04, but problems started since I updated Sublime Text to the last version (4126). Bad decision!!!

The animation posted above shows the same issue I’m having. For me, it’s enough by closing and reopening the file (no need to restart the application).

NOTE: I’m running the Linux box in a Virtual Box VM through the Remote Display feature (RDP protocol).
