Thanks. I don’t mean a discount - I’m thinking of whether I could send someone a license as a gift, or someone could send me a gift of an upgrade to my existing license…?

Not sure but couldn’t you simply buy it for the email address & name of the person in order to gift a new one? Price and payment method will be on the invoice, but that’s all. In case you don’t want that, I’d follow @jfcherng’s answer.

I figured a new one could work like that, yeah. The upgrade to an existing license is the more complex part of the question - maybe I just need to talk to sales@, but I thought there might be wisdom “out there” that I’d missed when searching.
