I’m using Windows. I have a license that I’ve entered into Sublime, but everytime I reopen the application, I have to re-enter the licesne. How do I get Sublime to save the license?
License key won't save
I have a similar issue (with ST3 only) but I think it is because I have my Sublime settings symlinked to my Dropbox so that my two machines can have the same settings. Are you doing this? I am using a Mac…
It would be great for this to be fixed though… does anyone have any ideas?
luvkisses: This is likely a permissions issue, and Sublime Text is unable to save the license key file. Are you using ST2 or ST3?
MrMartineau: Licenses keys in ST3 are xor’ed with the machine id when saving, to prevent accidentally sharing the license key. However, when read in, it will be accepted if it’s either in the appropriate xor’ed form, or if it’s stored as plain text. If you manually write the License.sublime_license file with the plain text license key, then the saved license key will be accepted on multiple computers.
When you enter your license key, Sublime Text 2 tries to save it as plain text to %APPDATA%\Sublime Text 2\Settings\License.sublime_license. For whatever reason, it sounds like you don’t have write permission to that folder, which would cause the license key to not be remembered.
If you created the file manually, then you should be good to go.
Thanks for the help. I was having a bunch of issues with my computer so I actually got a fresh install of the OS. So, ended up having to re-install Sublime, and now the license key saves without an issue.
