Build 3154, Ubuntu Linux 16.04. I can click on “Help -> About Sublime Text” and that’s fine, but clicking on the “About” entry in the command palette brings up the dialog and then the editor freezes up.

This is true. When one clicks on the top left “x”, after bringing up “About” from the command pallet, ST aborts.
Ubuntu 16.04.3, Unity desktop.

Confirmed on Xubuntu 16.04 and 17.04 but not on Xubuntu 17.10 or what will become Ubuntu 18.04.

Build 3154: - Under a fairly current Gentoo system.
Command Pallet -> About -> {click on X} -> sublimetext exits immediately
Help -> About -> {click on X} -> closes the about panel.
