Latex: citations with multi-part documents

#1

I am preparing a large document which is separated into individual documents for each chapter, however there is a central bibliography for the entire document. I wish to take advantage of the autocomplete bar when using the \cite{} command, but when editing the individual chapters (which do not contain any \usepackage{} commands or the \bibliography{} command) I am met with the message that the bibliography could not be found.

Is there a way to point the editor to a central .bib file, or at least to set a .bib file as the source for the autocomplete window even when that file may not be included within a given document?

I found a command to solve this issue in one of the more recent updates to the LaTeXTools package. Place the line ‘%!TEX root = thesis.tex’ at the top of your chapter.tex “working file” if thesis.tex is your “master file”.
