Jumping to first result on searching is annoying behavior

#1

When you search for any text using Ctrl+F, it is super annoying that the windows jumps to the first instance of the searched text. This is especially annoying when either you are working with a huge file with thousands of lines, or when the window jumps to a substring of the keyword being searched for while you are typing parts of the search term.

Can you add a checkbox (or user setting) to disable this extremely annoying behavior?

The Highlight Matches button in the Find and Find and Replace panels controls this; if it’s turned off, the jump to the first match doesn’t happen until you execute the find. This has no effect in the Incremental Find panel (since that’s the purpose of that panel).

I second and third this.

Expected behaviour for Hightlight Matches, is to HIGHLIGHT the match, NOT to autoscroll…

Watching the page jump around as I type a string, because it jumps to various variants of that string is discombobulating. STOP IT please.

I WANT to highlight a match, but I don’t want to autoscroll to the match, and I don’t want to have to turn the hightlight button off and on each search
