Jump to last viewed file

#1

Hi All,

Is there a command/keybinding, which allow jumping between files (jump to the last viewed file, etc)?

Thank you!

You can use ctrl + tab which will jump to the last viewed file.

OK, ‘ctrl+tab’ is for jumping back to the last viewed file…
what about jumping forward to the last viewed file

Let’s assume I visited the files in the following order: fileA -> fileB -> fileC.
Now, ctrl+tab will bring me to the fileB, another ctrl+tab will bring me to the fileA.
But how can I move back in the reverse order now (from fileA to fileB and then to the fileC)?

For that does, ctrl+shift+tab work ?

No, the Ctrl+Shift+Tab does something else… It does jump between files, but I don’t understand its order…

The Ctrl+Tab and Ctrl+Shift+Tab functionality keep track of the order that you view files in using the same sort of mechanism that your OS does to remember what order you visited applications when you swap between them (using for example Alt+Tab on Windows).

So, to swap between the current tab and the last one you visited, Ctrl+Tab is what you want.

If you want to go back two times in the history, the same keystroke works, but don’t release the Ctrl key in between (i.e. hold Ctrl and press Tab twice).
