Issues on loading, reacting on changes in, or refreshing folders on samba share (MacOS)

#1

Hello,
Recent SublimeText versions (I now have v. 4.1.1.3), at least on Mac OS, have major problems with projects whose folders are on a network share (a SMB connection on an Intranet server, in my case).

Namely:

  1. Often (but not always) loading a “project folder” from a network share does never terminate.

  2. When a project folder from a network share changes (e.g., a file/subfolder is created/deleted), ST does not see the change.

  3. Whenever I explicitly ask ST to “refresh project folders”, it tries forever. The application is still usable (although the project folder tree showing “under update”, but never getting updated), but it starts using a lot of CPU (400%) and RAM (~2GB).

Needless to say, during this non-terminating process, I am perfectly capable of browsing/changing such network shares via, e.g., Mac OS Finder or other applications.

This issue is making my use of ST extremely cumbersome. So, I hope there is something I can do or a fix will be released soon.

Thanks

Does this also happen in Safe Mode?

In safe mode, the issues still occur. However, the CPU and RAM usage does not increase during (still unsuccessful) the “folder refresh” operation.
