Issue about update of build 3170 (Windows 10, unable to rename directory, errcode=32)

#1

Above is the figure shows the problem.
I receive the build 3170 update recently, and it failed to install.
Up to now, I will receive the update notification about build 3170 on each starting of Sublime, and the same issue will occur if I choose to install.

It is strange that it seems the current version is already build 3170 in the about page. (I can only put 1 picture)

The error code 32 means that some process on your system locked the folder when Sublime Text tried to update. It may be Windows Explorer, or an antivirus program.

I would recommend manually upgrading by uninstalling the old version and installing the new one.

I had this issue as well, and I found it discussed in this Stack Overflow question related to an earlier Sublime Text build.

As with one of the answers to that question, MalwareBytes was interfering with my installation. I simply disabled Malwarebytes, did the Sublime Text upgrade, then re-enabled it.
