Is there a way to exclude folded areas from find

I would like the ability to exclude areas that are folded from being searched.

Where this would be useful is searching for the usage of a variable, but limiting the search to areas of interest (and searching in selected is not practical). I use folding to hide areas that I’ve already have looked through.

I don’t think you can.
The search is performed over the entire file, even on folded text.
