I’d like to develop a personal plugin that badges files in the sidebar of my project based on regex matching text in the file. Is this possible? Doesn’t seem like it but thought I’d ask.
Is it possible for a plugin to conditionally badge non-Git files in sidebar?

No, this is not possible. There is no API to allow you to control the side bar, such as changing the text, adding items that aren’t represented by files in added folders, or adding icons or other markup.
