Inline live preview for markdown?

#1

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for a package that offers inline Markdown preview functionality for Sublime Text, similar to what Typora provides.
In other words: the ability to see a live preview of the Markdown as I type, without needing a separate preview pane.

If anyone knows of an existing package or is interested in developing one, I would love to hear your thoughts!

Thanks!

Sublime Text is a “plain text” code editor not designed to in-place render formatted text like a word processor app (MS Word, LibreOffice Writer, …).

It can only render italic, bold and underlined text based on syntax definitions to emphasize special keywords or variables.

Are you suggesting that it’s completely impossible to do so with a “fully custom” plugin?

ST is fundamentally not a wysiwyg editor, turning it into one would require rewriting the entire application. No this can’t be done with a plugin.

FWIW, I used to quite happily jump between Typora for WYSIWG and ST for the full grunt and power that it brings. You can have both open and work on the same file. ST notes the changes and updates accordingly, but with Typora you need to close and reopen the file.

I have since broken the tether and no longer rely on Typora, working exclusively in ST.
