Inline "Block Decorations" a la Atom 1.6

#1

Atom 1.6 introduces a really interesting feature called Block Decorations, as described here:

Atom has a lot of UI flexibility that plugins can leverage, and this is just the latest thing which seems very simple yet powerful. It would be great to see something like this in Sublime.

I guess UI things are much easier to be implemented in Atom since it’s pretty kind of web browser…

I’m not sure what your point was, but I think the reason UI things are much easier in Atom is because the plugin API allows it. Exactly how the API works is kind of irrelevant.

Maybe, yes and no.

  • Easy: We use UI APIs.
  • Hard: Jon implements UI APIs.

However, I heard that Atom = Chromium + Node.js so I guess it would be much easier to implement UI (DOM manipulation?) APIs for Atom developers than an author of an editor which starts from C++/Python.

But I am neither a Atom master nor a Sublime Text master, I just guess.
