I can't copy and paste error messages

ST issues error messages, but I can’t copy and paste them for use say in this forum. Sure I can screen shot them but it’s quite a lot of hassle, seems a weird design decision, or is it my system, I can for example copy Spyder error messages…

Don’t know what this means honestly. I suggest providing a screenshot if you can’t properly describe what it is. Sometimes, a screenshot speaks more than thousand words.

So if you mean How to find out which package is giving me this error. That’s using your OS’ API. Honestly, I haven’t seen any of them copy-able though I don’t use many OSes.

As a workaround (not for you),

  • Plugin authors can print error messages to the console as well for sure.

On Windows, dialog/message boxes are copyable in their entirety (including title) using ctrl+c when that window has the focus. This has been true since the early days of Windows. There’s just no way to select label contents with the mouse.

Other OS’ should behave similarly if they also don’t allow text selection.

Can confirm that it works on both WIndows and Ubuntu (LXDE).
