I can no longer access files over sftp

#1

I have no idea what is wrong, but I’ve been using sublime to edit remote files over sftp for a while now with no issues whatsoever. Today there was a brutal windstorm that knocked out our power for a few hours, taking my computer down with it. When power came back on, I started up the machine and launched sublime text, and it popped open a bunch of windows, but only the local files displayed. A huge number of tabs were just ‘untitled’ and had no content. I assume these were the remote files I was working on when everything went to hell.

Now, i can’t open remote files at all. If i try to launch via double click, it goes to the next editor in the mimeapps list (gedit). Locally, sublime opens files of the same type with no issue. If I right click and select ‘open with sublime text’, i get a spinner, indicating something is happening, but the file never opens. I tested on a remote server, and on a server on my local network, the problem exists on both servers.

What happened to my computer? What would be preventing ST3 from opening a remote file over SFTP?

I figured it out. The power outage had nothing to do with the problem, aside from being the first time I had restarted my computer in ages, which resulted in me getting bit by a gvfs bug (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gvfs/+bug/1451087).

Killing gvfs and restarting it fixed everything.
