I am having problems not being able to save my coding

Hello, I am having problems saving my coding. When I try to save it says /(name of the item). I really need this fixed since I am a student and learning web page design. Please help me.

I also forgot to say I am doing this on a MacBook Air.

Unix based operating systems like MacOS and Ubuntu don’t let you save in the root of the file system unless you have special privileges, so trying to save /myfile.html or similar is going to throw a permission denied error.

What you want to do is create a folder inside your home directory and save your files into there instead. Here’s a link to a forum post from a bit over a month ago where I explain in greater detail. Following the linked post is an animated gif of how to navigate to the appropriate location if you don’t know how to do that.

As the message says, you're trying to save the file to a location that you don't have access to, such as the root of the file system.
