HTML: unwanted indention on paragraph completion

#1

Sublime 3, build 3083, has started behaving strangely for me.

In HTML, if I create a paragraph with only the opening

, or I split a paragraph, then when I put in the trailing

to complete the paragraph, Sublime indents the paragraph for me.

It only started doing it recently so I must have changed a setting, but I have no idea what, and searching doesn’t reveal the answer, so I am hoping someone will take pity on me and explain what to do to put it back how it was.

Kind regards - David

Sounds like you have an unpaired tag above it, maybe? Then Sublime would try to be “smart” and assume this new tag should be indented further. Try selecting the whole file, going Edit > Line > Reindent, and then seeing where the error starts.

I thought about that, but even if I start a new empty file and type

<p>test

when I finish the line by adding </ it immediately indents like this.

	<p>test</p>

I have just noticed that the same unwanted indenting happens at other times. For instance, I edited the link in the paragraph below, and during editing I deleted (intentionally) the closing . When I put the cursor where I wanted it and pressed “</”, Sublime automatically inserted the closing “a>” - and indented the paragraph!

<p>The pictures here, by kind permission of <a href="http://www.antique-watch.com" target="_blank">Pieces of Time</a> in Mayfair, London, are of one of these watches. The watch has a keyless fusee English lever movement with up / down indication on the dial. It is stem wound and key set. It was owned at one time by Vice Admiral A. W. Craig of the Royal Navy.</p>

If someone could point me towards what I might have done to provoke this behaviour, or how to fix it, I would be most grateful.

Kind regards - David
