Find -> Use Selection for Find
seems to not work, even previously selecting something.
What is it for? How to use it?
How to use "Use Selection for Find" (Ctrl+E)?

It’s just used to copy the selected text onto the find input field for all the Find
class of panels. Though, you don’t even need that because, just selecting any text and opening any find panel will automatically place the selected text into the input field.

Just having a guess, ctrl+shift+e fills the replace section of find and replace (ctrl+h). Perhaps there’s some overlap of functionality?
There might be a better reason, oversight of some description ?

It’s most useful under macOS where cmd+f
doesn’t copy the current selection into the find buffer, but there’s still use cases otherwise. Say you want to replace some text but search for it later, you can select it, ctrl+e, replace it and then search for what you’ve replaced.
