How to reinstall Sublime Text on Mac

#1

After a rebooting my Mac, Sublime Text stopped working. I would like to uninstall ST and reinstall from a new ST installer. I could not find a way to uninstall so I tried to delete all the ST files. It seems there are (hidden?) files I did not delete.

I have downloaded the installer, but when I launch the installer, I get a blank ST window with no steps or instructions visible to complete the install. I still have my license.

I welcome any help to get my ST working again.

In what way is it not working?

Sublime on MacOS doesn;t have an installer; it’s just an app that you drag into Applications and run from there.

So, you could remove that and then replace it with a newly downloaded copy. However that seems unlikely to resolve your problem (depending on what it actually is) because your Sublime configuration is in your home directory and not with the app; on MacOS that is in ~/Library (see https://www.sublimetext.com/docs/revert.html for the full path); removing/replacing the Sublime app will leave these files alone so that you can upgrade without losing your configuration.

So, replacing the application itself is not very likely to solve any particular problem.

I have removed the ST app, and removed the all the ST files I could find in the ~/Library directories. I moved a new ST file to Applications and was able add Package Control, but it still shows “unregistered”. See screenshot.

How can I add my license key?

The license key is stored in ~/Library, if you entered your license key previously you’ll need to do it again. You can enter the license key using the menu Help > Enter License Key.

Got my lic. key installed. But there is no SFTP set up options in the menus. How can I get this working so can set up my server SFTP and browse my server files?

My installed packages are ExpressionEngine and Package Control

Sorry for all these step by step questions. The documentation says when I first open the app. there will be instructions to follow. But launching ST only opens an untitled window. Is there some place I can go to get these instructions?

What documentation are you referring to?

Regarding SFTP, if you want that kind of action you would need to install a package to do so (said package is named SFTP).

FWIW, SFTP is a paid package. There is an additional fee. You can bundle the package with the Sublime Text fee.
So you aren’t surprised.

I have installed the SFTP sublime-package and added the lic. key.

I now have access to my ExpressionEngine serve.
Thank you for your help.
