How to make background Transparent

#1

Now that ST4 is out for a good while now, I think its fair to ask how I could set the background of the text editor to be transparent or less opaque. I read the HTML documentation that came with ST4 for the themes and there is only one mention of changing transparency but it doesnt point where in the code. If I could get some help/clarity on this I would appreciate it very much. For now I used the transparency package but that reduces the transparency of the whole window. I’m just looking for reducing the opacity of just the text editor background. Maybe what I’m looking for is impossible. Please let me know.

Thanks

I don’t think it’s possible (for only the background). That sounds like it should be done in ST core when it’s drawing something if it’s plausible. But no, ST doesn’t provide that and I think it’s unlikely ST will provide that in the future.

If you are on Windows, you can use AquaSnap to make the program window transparent.

EDIT
My bad. So he wants to change the editor background opacity like in Windows Terminal. Like you wrote before, there is no setting for that in Sublime Text.

He can already make the window transparent but he only wants the background to be transparent (not everything in the window).
