How to get build output in real-time?

#1

Howdy,

Background information: New Sublime Text user; Product is Sublime Text 3, build 3047 perviously, build 3054 now; Running on OS X 10.9.

Problem: The output from a running console-type program (stdout) isn’t available in the console until the program completes. The program, (C, Java, Ruby… the language doesn’t matter), is built and run via use of the Build menu option. Upon program termination, the results show up in the console. That is well and fine for a program which is short running, but it is decidedly inconvenient for a long running program which is producing interim results over time.

I’ve tried to find a way to have the output display in real-time, but I’ve had no luck. To be honest with you, I had expect program stdout output to be available like it is with TextMate.

My guess is that I am missing something basic or the getting output as it is being sent to the console is hard to do.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Mark
