When I use sudo subl, it opens as Unregestered User. How do I set permissions for the current user and the root user license key?

Using sudo
is going to run the program as root; since the configuration for Sublime is user specific, if you want root to be licensed you’re going to need to enter your license key while it’s running as root.
All that said, it’s probably not a great idea to do this since the license isn’t the only thing that’s per user; all of your configuration is.
For what purpose do you think you need to run Sublime as root?

I don’t know if it is appropriate here, but the reason for wanting Sublime Merge as root is so that we can do version control on the /etc folder.
