How do I customize project indexing?

I am working with a custom XML format, where <method name="foo">...</method> defines a method. How do I tell the indexer that foo is a symbol?

I don’t know too much about it but AFAIK the indexer uses tmLanguage scopes to determine things to index. So, if you base a new create a new MyXML.tmLanguage based on the existing XML.tmLanguage, and add in scopes for your methods and suchlike (which you’d probably need for custom colourising anyway), the indexer will probably play ball. Hope that gives you something to start investigating; perhaps someone else can chime in.
