How can I save the width of the columns in the app’s layout? I’m talking about the 3 columns: Locations, Commits/Files, and the files column. I keep resizing them but when I restart the app they revert back to their original sizes. I’m on Linux.

How are you exiting Sublime Merge? For me SM only resets the column sizing if I end/kill the process. Closing the window or quitting via the menu (File > Quit) remembers the state correctly on restore.
(On Ubuntu 22.04, SM Build 2082)
For me this doesn’t happen. Is there a way to at least specify defaults somewhere?

There is no way to specify the default for that. Anyways, your case seems to be a bug that the SM devs need to look into and resolve. I’d recommend filing a bug report though Help -> Report a Bug from the main menu with all the details you can provide for them to narrow down the cause.
