Have both Sublime Text 3 and 4 in Redhat?

#1

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone knows if it’s possible to set up both Sublime Text 3 and Sublime Text 4 to be installed at the same time in Redhat, Rhel 7.9 to be more specific?

I’m aware that this is possible in Windows and macOS but when I tried using rpm to install both Sublime Text 3 and 4, a conflict note was produced:

file /opt/sublime_text/Packages/ASP.sublime-package from install of sublime-text-3211-1.x86_64 conflicts with file from package sublime-text-4143-1.x86_64
file /opt/sublime_text/Packages/ActionScript.sublime-package from install of sublime-text-3211-1.x86_64 conflicts with file from package sublime-text-4143-1.x86_64
file /opt/sublime_text/Packages/AppleScript.sublime-package from install of sublime-text-3211-1.x86_64 conflicts with file from package sublime-text-4143-1.x86_64

TYIA!

Our packages all install in the same location (/opt/sublime_text), but you can instead use the tarball for Sublime Text 3. See here for additional information regarding running ST3 and ST4 side by side: https://www.sublimetext.com/docs/side_by_side.html

Thanks!!

The tarball suggestion works wonders!!

I was aware that the “config” directories can be separate but I couldn’t find that information on how to have the app-installation coexisting in Linux.

Appreciate it!
