Git indicators in ST4 with Merge installed

With a registered ST4 / Merge install, is there a lightweight way to show which branch / repo a file currently belongs to, if it belongs to any?

It seems odd that there isn’t a built-in way to integrate some sort of indicator where both are installed.

ST displays the branch of a file in statusbar.

It’s almost as if I was an idiot who’d switched to working on a physical copy of the code in an existing repository that wasn’t actually part of a new repository yet
