Getting rid of the 'diff' pane

#1

The latest thing I’ve managed to accidentally turn on in Sublime is some sort of ‘diff’ pane. I do not know how to turn it off and how to prevent it being turned on in the first place, though I imagine the latter is a matter of reassigning some keyboard shortcut to ctrl-alt-fn-never.

Please advise, someone. Thanks. This stuff gets in the way of my work.

I am not sure if I understand what do you mean by “diff pane”. Can you show a screenshot?

If I got it right, you should go to the menu View -> Layout -> Single

Thanks for the reply. I can’t show a screenshot, because I don’t know how to enable the pane in question and thankfully I managed to get rid of it by closing Sublime (but I do want to stop it appearing before). It’s a display of what changes have been made to a file - the sort of thing one can see on github. It has lines starting ‘@’ and lines starting ‘+’ and lines starting ‘-’. I suppose a plugin might be responsible. I did try your suggestion - even before posting here - but to no avail. That option didn’t work perhaps because this pain is horizontal not vertical. Perhaps the keyboard shortcut - ctrl-k, a, at least on my system - to show the linter will disable the ‘diff’ pane - for it occupies the same horizontal stretch of screen as the linter does.

Just press Esc next time. It’s a standard output panel that behaves the same as the build output panel, if you’ve seen that before.

FichteFoll: thank you - that answers one of my questions. The other question was and is: how to prevent the thing appearing in the first place?

How to prevent it from appearing is interesting. You need to open it manually via the context menu. It’s the first item called “Show unsaved changes…”.

Well, whether or not its because of my slightly glitchy touchpad, I have managed to trigger it by accident - and I don’t remember seeing a context menu. Still, perhaps I did accidentally select that menu item.
