Forum Spam

#1

I’m a relatively new user since March. Just an FYI:

  1. I LOVE Sublime Text 3
  2. I’m going to keep using it
  3. The pace of updates doesn’t bother me a bit
  4. Silence from the author doesn’t bother me a bit (has anybody ever followed the Cultured Code forum for Things? Same gripes. They’ve even abolished the forum.)
  5. What DOES bother me is all this friggin’ spam. I refuse to wade my way through three pages of new posts to read a handful of legitimate posts. It has finally pushed my buttons.
  6. I’m staying away from the forums, not ST3. Have fun, guys.

Yes, it’s annoying for everyone I imagine. I suppose I developed some kind of automatic filtering for these over the recent months. However, I do notice that especially in the past few days spam has increased significantly.

The SPAM on this forum has lately dominated this forum; similar to another forum I’m on except the moderator at that form; has let SPAM take control of the forum. Sad cause all there is, is Nike Ads but I plan on leaving the other forum in the new year.

Usually I clear out the spam, but my personal life has taken priority the last couple of weeks.

Listen to this guy, his personal life has allowed SPAM to take control of this forum, phfff
Joking with you

I think the moderator deleted one of my posts when cleaning up the SPAM :frowning:

Whoops, I’m really sorry if that’s the case. The forum controls aren’t the best, especially when there are pages of spam.

It’s alright; I’ll post again.

@jbrooksuk: I moderated a vbulletin forum years ago and wrote userscripts that would help me keeping the forum clean by significantly simplifying the deletion process. I don’t know if you have the power to add moderators, but I would gladly assist you with keeping the forum cleaner - at least by writing scripts.

Edit: The forum mentions “special groups are managed by the board administrators.” on the moderators group, so I suppose you do not.

A big thanks to jbrooksuk for cleaning up the spam (when he has time).

A thankless job but thanks anyway!

I think he should just stop spending time on it and let Sublime HQ get what they deserve for not implementing a proper forum system. They are just using jbrooksuk. I’m sure he has better things to do with his life than fix someone else’s idiocy/laziness/ignoramusity. My 2 cents.
