When I try to do a search or Find within a file it starts at the beginning of the file. How can I search starting from a point within the file.

although “find” starts searching from the beginning of the file (which is generally what most people want, with wrap results enabled), it very cleverly/helpfully will show you the first match after your caret position by default, so generally there is no need to get ST to ignore everything before a particular point in the file - but if you do want to, just select from the point to the EOF and then do a “search in selection”.
