I use ctrl+f a LOT when I am reading code in sublime so it is very frustrating how broken it appears to be for me.
I have looked at other forum posts and a lot of the problems seem to be with the “Where” setting. And that is sorta the case. However, there are two problems that make this really annoying to fix:
- You can only bring it up with the “find in file…” menu bar setting to my knowledge
- Even after I set it to it promptly forgets it causing me to have to reset that field for each opened document and window of Sublime.
Even when I get the where part find highlighting still doesn’t happen as it should because of a few reasons:
- Pressing find from the menu that pops up for “find in file” opens up the results in a new tab even if I am only looking for one document
- While going back to just the ctrl+f menu works so long as it is the same document it only shows the found words by putting a white box around them. The find button does not move you from each instance of the word found in fact it doesn’t even seem to work.
- Essentially there is no way to get the yellow highlight that should be appearing to appear.
How can I fix this? The issue may have popped up after I did a ton of Regex searches but I have turned the “.*” setting off and turned on the “Aa” one so it should be back to regular searching. Even with the regex setting on I never saw the yellow highlight nor the correct searching functionality.
I did try reinstalling the software to no avail.
